This is effective in landing more sophisticated shots, such as enemies on the opposite ends of the player.Īnother one of the mechanics is bullet-time. Doing this allows players to dispatch two enemies at once if they are in a position to do so. By pushing the ZL button on the Nintendo Switch joy-con, one hand can aim at one enemy and the other hand can aim at another. Players begin with a simple hand-gun and then move on to a small arsenal of weapons, including dual-wielding SMG’s and even a powerful compact shotgun.Ī nice mechanic that My Friend Pedro provides is the ability to use dual-wielded weapon independently. My Friend Pedro is a side-scrolling shooter and platformer in which players jump, flip, kick, and most importantly, shoot their way through armed and deadly bad-guys. The mystery of this floating fruit, that gives you directions and tries to keep you safe, is a mystery to be unveiled along a trail of perforated bodies. Somehow, you feel connected to this sentient banana.

Upright, the Banana encourages the player to arm themselves and escape captivity The goal is to find out why people are after you and give them plenty of pain with boxes of bullets, and some explosions in between. The Banana seems appears as a wholesome fellow, acknowledging that there is danger around you, but refusing to panic. My Friend Pedro begins with you slowly awakening from a painful slumber and seeing a banana. This banana is your best friend, and it is indeed real. Wild, bloody, vicious, and fierce, My Friend Pedro is an astonishing action experience that features a commoving tale of friendship woven within rousing gameplay. I was incredibly dissapointed.Blasting onto the Nintendo Switch is My Friend Pedro: Blood, Bullets, Bananas, a brand-new game from DeadToast Entertainment and Devolver Digital. This is not exactly a review, it’s more of my rambling on how I’m confused why people love this game. I had more fun with the flash game I played almost 5 years ago. There’s no satisfaction in shooting someone dead by ricocheting bullets of a frying pan, even though in theory that sounds amazing. My issue is the fact that the actual shooting in this game is not fun. Speaking of which, I know people have criticized the second half of the game for being too focused on solving puzzles. It doesn’t feel like some fast-paced ballerina act of explosive death. It’s like they just decide to die after a while, not that I’ve killed them. The enemies feel like bullet-sponges, and not in the traditional arcade sense.

But one thing that stuck out to me was the fact that you have to shoot three times to kill. There's something inherently wrong with the game-play and for the life of me I can’t figure it out well enough to articulate it. You know when you punch someone in your dream and it’s a slow and light hook that ends up doing nothing? That’s what the shooting feels like in this game. There’s no sense of impact from breaking the glass to shooting the henchmen. In theory, It should be amazing to break through a window doing a flip in slow motion and then shooting someone in the face. I was expecting a fun game about shooting things in a cool way. I’m not slow-witted, I was not expecting a deep narrative experience or a 10 hour journey.
My friend pedro reddit Pc#
An overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam, an 81% on PC Gamer and an 8.5 on IGN. I’m baffled at the high ratings of this game.
